The Microsoft Edge browser returns a DRM error when you try to watch protected content and are using certain monitors or cables, such as VGA. This is because the media extension within Edge views the connection as unsafe, meaning protected content could be decrypted. There are two ways to continue watching content on Channel 4 while using one of these connections:
- Change to another one of our supported HTML5 browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
- Or you can use a different connection, such as HDMI, to view content on another monitor.

Channel 4 uses geo-blocking software to detect where your computer is located when it connects to the internet. Occasionally you may be accessing from the UK or ROI but the software mistakenly thinks your location is outside this area, and so blocks your access. This is most likely caused by the way your Internet Service Provider sets up and manages your account. We suggest you contact your Internet Service Provider and explain the problem, which they should be able to resolve.

Programmes streamed on Channel 4 include advertising before and during the show.

If you’re wondering why you’ve just seen or heard your details in this ad (e.g. your name, location or birth month), it’s because you’re logged in to Channel 4 as one of our registered users who has not opted out from personalised advertising.
This message is to reassure you that we serve all ads through our own network, and do not share any of the personalisation data with our advertisers. We have used some of the data you shared with us when you registered with Channel 4 together with your IP Address in some cases (which gives us an idea of where you are logged on from) so that we can make the ad more personal and relevant to you.
You can change your advertising preferences at any time by opting out of “personalised advertising” in the My Account section on Channel4.com. Please note, you will still see the same number of adverts but they won’t be personalised to you.
