Channel 4 use of Talentbases - Privacy Policy

Channel 4 works with Talentbases, one of many industry freelancer databases we work with.  This platform will allow your CV to be stored and shared safely with our indie partners for relevant Channel 4 productions, to ensure they have access to a wide and rich variety of talented people. It also means that your profile will be on Talentbases for their other users from across the industry, including many independent production companies, to discover as well.

1. Who is in control? 
When you sign up to Talentbases their privacy policy will apply. You can read more about Talentbases, details of what they provide and their terms and privacy policy.

This privacy policy applies to the collection and use of your personal information by Channel 4 via the Talentbases platform.

At Channel 4, we are committed to keeping your data safe and secure and handling it in accordance with our obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR. 

2. What personal data do we collect from you and why?
Channel 4 is also a data controller in respect of any personal information that we hold on you in our dedicated, secure area of this system.  This may include communication between us and you about opportunities we have available, your career development and details of our history of working with you on various projects. 

3. Who do we share your data with?
Channel 4 will securely share your information with TV production companies, training organisations, industry associations, events or charities for the purpose of career progression.

This sharing process is either:

  • via email containing a secure link to your CV which expires after a short time period to ensure it is only used for the purpose it was shared.
  • by allowing secure password protected temporary access to our partners execs and staff allowing them to view your CV and profile for the purpose detailed above.

The relevant production company’s privacy policy will govern the use of this personal data and any transfer of data will be done in a secure manner.

4. What is our legal basis for using your data?
When we process your personal data, C4 relies on legitimate interests as a legal basis to process your personal data to evaluate your suitability for potential opportunities.

If you have completed the “Inclusion” form when you signed up to Talentbases, we cannot see your form directly, but the information you provide will allow Channel 4 to have an aggregated view of the diversity characteristics of our talent base. This aggregated information cannot be used to directly identify you.

5. How long do we keep your data for?
We will not hold your personal data for longer than we need to. Your personal data will be reviewed in accordance with our data retention policies and deleted when it is no longer required.

6. What rights do you have in respect of your data?
You may delete your data/profile at any time in the future or request that C4 or Talentbases does so for you.

You have various other rights in respect of the personal data that we process on you, including the right of access to your personal data, the right to object to or restrict our processing of your data as well as the right to have your data erased.
