Gallery: Ferrari F430
Ferrari has revealed its replacement for the 360 Modena, the F430. It's an aluminium-constructed, mid-engined two-seater, with a compact, 90-degree V8 engine, though with some 483bhp, it's significantly more powerful than the 394bhp 360 Modena, as Ferrari tries to keep pace with the car's nearest rival, Lamborghini's 493bhp Gallardo.

Full of holes: There are many air ducts in the F430. The main frontal pair serve a radiator each, heated air then escaping just ahead of the front wheels. The lower side vents in the sills serve the water/oil heat exchanger, mounted in the engine's vee, and the rear brakes, while the upper vents feed the induction system. And the lights? The headlights are bi-xenon units, and the sidelights curve along the outer edge of the cover to give a unique lit shape at night. Two wheel designs are offered, both with the same-size tyres: Five paired spokes are standard, seven slenderer paired spokes, as on the 360 Challenge Stradale, are optional.
