Somali pirates appear to be making a comeback. Attacks around the Horn of Africa have risen sharply – adding to the risks posed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeting ships in the Red Sea.
Since November pirates have tried to hijack more than 20 ships – their highest number of attacks in more than a decade.
We went to the port town of Eyl, the ancient capital of Somalia, to find out what impact their return is having on people there.
