Imposing wide-hipped looks, rides well, added power and torque have improved drive.
Thirsty, high price premium, less sharp to drive than Evo.
Engine tweaks transform STi into a real contender - shame about the cost.

Subaru has finally realised that quirkiness doesn't sell and has gone all mainstream. Instead of a saloon, the Impreza is now a mass-market-pleasing hatch.
The new range is more efficient, quieter and better all-round than the eccentric old Impreza. There's even a diesel on the way.
Which is all well and good, but it's had some serious repercussions for its flagship sporty models. The STi was once one of the most focused, hardcore cars money could buy. Now it has evolved into something more refined but ultimately less engaging.
Enter the STi 330S, the firm's attempt to make amends. Subaru has boosted the STi's power output by an extra 30bhp to 326bhp, giving the 330S a blistering 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds. Top speed remains limited at 155mph.
The suspension has been thankfully improved, while larger 18" wheels and sticky Dunlop tyres have been added to boost grip.
This all comes at quite a price. The STi 330S costs an additional £4,305, making the standard car looks suspiciously good value. It means the STi 330S has its work cut out to justify both its price increase and its worth to the old hardcore fanbase.
