Motor Show: Geneva 2008: Jaguar XKR-S

05 Mar 08

The XKR-S coupe is the fastest Jag since the XJ220 supercar: 174mph and 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds.

Just 200 will be made, with revised suspension, bespoke springs and dampers, new anti-roll bars and recalibrated active suspension damping, as well as unique styling details and interior finish.

The performance of the supercharged 420bhp 4.2 V8 has been boosted by modified engine management, but it's quickened mainly by its improved aerodynamics and the help of the unique suspension. It gains super-powerful brakes with 400mm ventilated discs up front and 350mm discs to the rear, and a faster-ratio steering rack - and the exhaust has been tuned for a 'much more hard-edged and sporting V8 sound under hard acceleration', says Jaguar.

Exterior detailing includes a new front air splitter and side sill extensions, a new rear spoiler and rear bumper with diffuser panel and 20-inch alloys; the XKR-S will come in Ultimate Black paint only. Inside, it gets soft charcoal-coloured leather with ivory stitching, piano black trim, charcoal headlining and a 525-watt Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound audio system.
