Bloodshed at Gaza’s border – Israeli gunfire leads to dozens dead

Over 50 people were killed – several of them children – and many hundreds injured, as Palestinian protesters were met with live rounds fired by Israeli troops.

It was the eve of what the Palestinians call Nakba, or the catastrophe – for them, the disaster of losing their land amid the founding of the State of Israel 70 years ago.

For those Palestinians living in Gaza today, there was another catastrophic loss of life.
