Ukip’s Nigel Farage: friends like these.

Ukip leader Nigel Farage is the man of the moment in British politics. But his party didn’t get to where it is now without provoking a range of opinions from other politicians.

Boris Johnson called him “a rather engaging geezer”, but in 2006 David Cameron famously referred to Ukip as a party of “fruitcakes”.

Mr Farage, though, can give as good as he gets. He once described his erstwhile Ukip colleague, the super-suntanned Robert Kilroy Silk, as “a vain orange buffoon”.

Watch out for more colourful language from – and about – the Ukip leader.
