The race to be Arizona’s first female senator

In these last frenetic campaign days, Donald Trump has tried to boost the focus on illegal immigration ever higher to shore up seats he fears losing to the Democrats.

One of these close fought races is in Arizona – a state which will return its first ever female senator, whoever wins. That’s ground breaking, given almost half of the 50 states have never elected a female senator.

With a record number of women running, next week could see the first African American female governor – and the first Native American woman in Congress.
