Justice minister resigns over Downing Street party fines

Conservative peer David Wolfson has resigned as justice minister in protest at the “scale, context and nature” of the breaches of Covid regulations in Downing Street.

In a letter he said the government couldn’t expect to formulate new laws and defend democratic norms abroad if it was not seen to be committed to the observance of the law.
