HS2: UK set to scrap rail link to Manchester

The news that Rishi Sunak had decided to scrap the HS2 rail link to Manchester was starting to leak just as the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt got to his feet to address Tory members.

He didn’t say a word about it, but that didn’t stop others as it instantly became the talk of a conference which has already experienced splits on tax and net zero.
