A library made of ice-cream containers, self-healing skin for prosthetic limbs and a boot – to be worn on Mars – made from mushrooms and human sweat. These are just some of the wide-ranging nominees of the Design Museum’s annual awards and they offer a glimpse into what the world of tomorrow might look like.
