Could online adverts promoting Boris Johnson be a sign that a general election will be called?

Now before Boris Johnson had even got hold of the keys to Number 10 – the sophisticated online message machine for the next election had swung into action.

With the Vote Leave campaign guru Dominic Cummings now a senior advisor to the Prime Minister – a flurry of new adverts have been pumped out on Facebook, each subtly targeted at different users.

And that’s being seen as a sign that the Conservative team are already  testing their election messages – to find out exactly what’s the most effective. Here’s our political correspondent Paul McNamara.
