Chancellor announces end of austerity

The other set piece event in the Commons today was the Chancellor’s spending review which turned into a £13.4 billion government giveaway.

Sajid Javid doled out cash to every department, declaring he was turning the page on austerity.

Labour called it a piece of “grubby electioneering” and condemned Boris Johnson for heckling the Shadow Chancellor during his speech to the House.

And no word on how those big spending plans will affect the deficit.
