Some in the party say he's done enough to end the uncertainty in the party's ranks, while others argue that he should have given a firmer date for his departure.

Mr Blair apologised on behalf of the Labour party for the last few days' internecine squabbling. He said he'd have liked to have announced his resignation in his own way, in a calmer manner.
