Two Germans in court on terror charges

Two German men are in court today charged with terrorism offences. They were arrested at a major UK port earlier this month.

Christian David Erkart Heinz Emde, 28, and Robert Baum, 23, have been charged with offences under the Terrorism Act.

The two men were arrested at Dover, in Kent, on 15 July by officers from the South East Counter Terrorism Unit (Sectu). They are accused of collecting or possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

They have been remanded in custody and appear at the City of Westminster magistrates’ court today.
