Man dead after Soho nightclub Christmas shooting
A man has died after being shot multiple times at a London nightclub on Christmas night, police have confirmed.
The shooting took place at 3am at Soho’s Avalon nightclub. Shaftesbury Avenue remained close this morning as police investigated the scene.
Police said man died after being taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting and is being questioned at a police station in south London, Scotland Yard confirmed.
“Police and London Ambulance Service attended to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” a police spokesman said.
‘Cocktail lounge with DJs’
Police have appealed for witnesses asking for anyone who was at the Avalon nightclub last night or who has information about this incident to call the incident room on 020 8785 8244 or call Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111.
The Avalon Soho describes itself as a cocktail lounge with live DJs every night.
Its website says it is “a revitalised venue that oozes creativity and class” which brings “a unique and stylish vibe to the heart of West End’s party scene”.
