Why thousands of farmers are protesting in Delhi

A ring of steel and concrete has been thrown up around India’s capital Delhi, as farmers demanding minimum prices for their crops have vowed to break through.

Farmers marching from the north had tear gas fired at them for a second day, as they tried to break down barricades far from the capital.
