What will be the priority after coronavirus: the climate, the economy or both?

As we mark Earth day – in the rush to restore economies after lockdown restrictions are eased – will protecting the planet be consigned to the back seat?

The smog has lifted from major cities across the world.

You can see the blue skies, and hear the birds singing.  With factories shuttered, traffic gone from the roads and many of our throwaway consumer habits suddenly curtailed – the environment has, at least, been free to flourish.

But as we mark Earth day – in the rush to restore economies after lockdown restrictions are eased – will protecting the planet be consigned to the back seat?
