US sues Apple for ‘illegal monopoly’ of smartphone market

Think about smartphones and you’ll probably think iPhone – the ubiquitous handset that has come to dominate the market since it was launched in 2007.

But the makers of Apple now face a lawsuit from the US Department of Justice, who accuse the firm of engineering an illegal monopoly – blocking third party developers and driving up prices for its services.
