US Civil Rights Leader John Lewis dies

He entered the civil rights fray as a 20 year old from rural Alabama. He leaves at the age of 80, an icon, having helped transform his nation and win rights for those left out of the American dream. Congressman John Lewis was the last surviving speaker from the 1963

March on Washington – the event most famous for Martin Luther King saying “I have a dream”. But John Lewis told the same crowd : “Wake up America, wake up. For we cannot stop and we will not and cannot be patient”.
