US and Saudi officials announce 24-hour ceasefire in Sudan

US and Saudi officials say both sides in Sudan’s bitter armed conflict have agreed to a 24-hour, countrywide ceasefire starting tomorrow.

The country’s army and the Rapid Support Forces militia group have been battling for control for nearly two months – displacing 1.6 million people in the process according to the UN.
