UK approves Pfizer jab for 12 to 15-year-olds, as daily Covid cases top 6,000

More than 6,000 Covid cases have been recorded across the UK in the last 24 hours, the highest daily figure since March.

Infections in England have soared over the last week as the R number has crept higher yet again, while in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon said Covid cases had tripled in a month.

The mass vaccination drive continues apace, with the Pfizer jab now approved for children aged between 12 to 15.
