Turkey-Syria quake: Why is aid being blocked?

The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has now passed 46,000, although – incredibly – people are still being pulled alive from the rubble of collapsed buildings twelve days on.

Fears of a humanitarian crisis in north-western Syria continue to grow however,  with the World Food Programme criticising the rebel authorities who control the area for blocking aid shipments.
