Reports from Israel say that the second round of ceasefire talks have begun – with officials saying Hamas does want to continue the Gaza hostage deal.

Israeli troops have pulled out of the entire Netzarim corridor, a four mile strip of land cutting off the North of Gaza from the south, as part of the terms of the ceasefire deal.

One of the hostages released by Hamas earlier is Eli Sharabi. His British-born wife Leanne and two teenage daughters were killed on October 7th in Kibbutz Be’eri – when Eli was taken hostage.

Israel’s health ministry says the three hostages released after 491 days in Hamas captivity are suffering from severe malnutrition – calling the scenes of their release in Gaza “difficult to watch”.

US humanitarian funding supports aid organisations around the world, among them the United Nations – where US dollars make up almost half of all humanitarian support. 

In Washington, President Trump is pushing forward with his notion for the US to take over Gaza despite intense global opposition and objections from both Republicans and Democrats, and attempts by the White House to play down the idea.

Donald Trump, with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his side, has said the US should take over Gaza, own it, and turn it into the ‘Riviera of the Middle East,’ but within hours of these comments Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Palestinians have rejected the suggestion outright.
