TikTok chief executive questioned by US Congress

British MPs have been told to delete TikTok on their work phones, just days after the government issued the same instruction to ministers over security concerns.

Hours later, the Scottish government followed suit.

While across the Atlantic – the boss of the social media app has been forced to defend the firm in front of the US Congress.

As the hearing began today, the Commerce Committee chair described the app as “a weapon by the Chinese Communist Party” – while chief executive Show Chew faced questions focusing on data privacy and political influence.
