Those with disabilities and the elderly say ticket office closures could stop them travelling

Rail unions have been out campaigning to save ticket offices from closure, on the day a public consultation comes to an end. The plan would mean shutting most of England’s ticket offices as part of cost cutting measures.

Train companies say staff will still be able to help passengers in different roles, but unions have described it as a “naive and dangerous decision” which will make railway stations less safe and less accessible.
