Sudan: Almost 100 civilians killed as two armies fight for control of the capital

Almost 100 civilians have been killed in the fierce fighting between army troops and paramilitary forces which has rocked the Sudanese capital Khartoum for a third day.

Millions of terrified residents have been trapped in their homes, with many running out of food and water – while at least six hospitals have been forced to shut down.

The UN chief has called for an immediate cease fire – urging both sides to begin talks.
