Steel giant Tata to close furnaces at biggest plant threatening thousands of jobs

There are reports tonight that steel giant Tata is to press ahead with plans to close blast furnaces at its biggest plant, threatening thousands of jobs.

Unions met the company after presenting alternative proposals aimed at saving jobs in Port Talbot in South Wales.
