Spending on entertainment lifts UK growth, but shortages threaten recovery

The British economy had a rather downbeat summer, according to the latest official statistics.

Output grew by 0.4 per cent in August and it actually shrank in July.

That’s all before the impact of the shortages hitting the economy.
