Seventeen hurt in ‘car cruise’ crash

Seventeen people have been hurt after a crash during a gathering of car enthusiasts in Stevenage, sending two vehicles ploughing into the crowd.

Two of the people were seriously injured in the collision, which happened at about a quarter to ten last night.

Organisers of the event, held to raise money for charity, said they’d urged drivers to stay off the roads but claimed “some people went a bit rogue”.
