Scientists warn track and trace not good enough to stop second virus wave

Leading scientists are warning that the UK’s current test and trace systems are not performing well enough to prevent a second wave of the virus – once all schools across the country are fully open.

The researchers estimate that England’s system is only reaching half of all those who have been in contact with infected people. Ministers dispute those numbers and say the system would “continue to improve”.
