Russia critic Vladimir Kara-Murza jailed 25 years for treason

The Russian opposition activist Vladimir Kara-Murza has been sentenced to 25 years in prison by a Moscow court for treason – for condemning Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Mr Kara-Murza, who also holds British citizenship, denied all the charges – declaring that he stood by everything he had said.

The day would come, he said, when the darkness would clear – and Russian society would “open its eyes and shudder, when it realises what crimes were committed in its name”.
