Row over Glasgow low-emission zone plan

A new low emission zone is being introduced in Glasgow city centre in an attempt to tackle pollution by the city that hosted the COP26 conference on climate change.

But it means cab drivers with vehicles which don’t meet the minimum standards will either have to buy new cars, or make them environmentally friendly to avoid losing their jobs.

Other Scottish cities have delayed the measures – but in Glasgow hundreds of taxi drivers say they need more time to bring their vehicles into compliance
