Rape trial failings could hamper future convictions, warns Lord Judge

The chance of getting rape convictions in genuine cases could be at risk after the collapse of several high profile trials, according to the former Lord Chief Justice. Surrey Police has become the second force to announce a review of all its cases – after charges against a 19 year old man were dropped days before his trial. The case was one of a series of recent failings which Lord Judge described as “alarming”.
