Protesters mark anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death amid heavy crackdowns in Iran

Activists across Europe have been gathering to mark a year since the death of Mahsa Amini, who died in police custody in Iran after she was arrested for allegedly failing to wear a hijab.

There’s been less opportunity to mark the anniversary in Iran itself, amid a heavy crackdown by security forces.

Ms Amini’s father was temporarily detained, preventing the family from holding a memorial at her grave.
