Prime Minister jeered while giving evidence during infected blood inquiry

Victims of the infected blood scandal jeered as the prime minister told them they will get compensation ‘as swiftly as possible’.

Mr Rishi Sunak told the inquiry that victims and relatives ‘have been let down for decades by successive governments’. But he fell short of promising to pay up before the final report is published.

More than 3,000 people have already died after being infected with HIV or Hepatitis in the 70s and 80s and someone is still dying every four days on average.
