Post Office scandal ‘ruined lives’, inquiry hears

Reporter

A public inquiry into the Post Office IT scandal, which saw hundreds of sub-postmasters given criminal convictions and many more in debt paying off counts, has begun.

The IT system known as Horizon was introduced in 1999 and gave incorrect figures leading to convictions for false accounting and theft.

The Post Office says it’s doing all it can to address the human cost of what happened but all these years on and many still haven’t received compensation yet.
