Passing police officer shoots dead Texas gunman

A lone gunman has shot and killed eight people in a Texas shopping mall before he was shot dead by a passing policeman.

Some of the victims in the attack north of Dallas are reported to be children.

Footage of the aftermath showed that the gunman was wearing black combat clothing and carrying a semi-automatic rifle.
