Passengers on Zante to Cardiff flight told to self-isolate after 16 test positive for Covid

As some scientists raise concerns that the return to work and school could create the right conditions for a second wave, the government’s latest figures on coronavirus show that another two deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours.

The total number of deaths now stands at 41, 501 and just over 1,400 positive cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Greece is not on the list of countries from which holidaymakers have to quarantine when they get back to the UK.

But for nearly 200 on a flight from the island of Zante that’s exactly what they have been told to do after 16 of their fellow travellers tested positive for coronavirus.

The tour company Tui is now investigating exactly what happened and whether the virus was actually spread by passengers who did not wear masks.
