Oxford vaccine found to be less effective against South African Covid variant

If we can’t eliminate Covid, at least we can stop people getting dangerously ill: that’s becoming the focus of the experts behind the mass vaccination drive as it emerged that the Oxford jab could be less effective at preventing the new South African variant of the disease.

Scientists are still confident they can adapt future vaccines, with GPs already primed to give out booster shots later this year.
