Ofsted inspection ‘contributed’ to headteacher’s death, inquest concludes

The family of headteacher Ruth Perry says “urgent lessons” must be learned after an inquest concluded that an Ofsted inspection contributed to her death. The 53-year-old took her own life before the watchdog published its report, downgrading her school from the highest rating to the lowest.

The coroner said the inspection lacked “fairness, respect and sensitivity”. Ofsted says it has already made changes and will do more to address the coroner’s concerns. Anja Popp has more.
