Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakkol Karman on Yemen: ‘Stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia’

Five of the world’s leading charities have urged the US to abandon support for a coalition – led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – fighting rebel forces in Yemen, saying it would save millions of lives.

Shocking images reveal the extent of the starvation amongst Yemeni civilians, as the charities warned that if the conflict continued, it could result in the biggest famine in decades.

Britain has supplied billions of pounds’ worth of arms to Saudi Arabia since the start of the war in Yemen. The Yemeni journalist and Nobel peace prize winner Tawakkol Karman has called for those arms exports to stop.
