New fund to tackle rough sleeping in England

Councils in England will be able to bid for a share of a new £30m fund to tackle rough sleeping – part of a new raft of measures the government claims will “break the homelessness cycle once and for all”. Next week a new law comes into force, requiring councils to try to prevent anyone becoming homeless, not just the most vulnerable.  Oxford has seen the number of rough sleepers almost double in a year.
