More than a million homes in England not built despite planning permission

The pressure on the rental market has come about, in part, because of a shortage of new houses.

The Housing Secretary Michael Gove admitted earlier this week that there aren’t enough homes in this country.

Labour said today that local councils should be given more power to build on green belt land – so long as new houses don’t affect the beauty of the countryside.
