More than 100,000 people gather in Belarus capital in protest against President Lukashenko

More than 100,000 people have gathered in the Belarus capital Minsk in the latest day of protest against President Lukashenko – despite a heavy police presence and warnings that the march was illegal.

Mr Lukashenko has vowed to crush the unrest – and has put the country’s military on full alert against what he described as ” external threats.”
