Midwives demand action on ‘critically unsafe’ staff shortages and lack of funding

Midwives across the UK have taken part in protests to highlight what they are describing “a national emergency”.

Campaigners say maternity services are becoming “critically unsafe” due to staff shortages and a lack of funding, putting women and babies at risk.

A recent survey showed 60 percent of midwives were thinking of leaving the profession due to the pressures they are under.
