Met Police breached rights of Sarah Everard vigil organisers, court rules

Women’s rights campaigners have won a High Court victory over the Metropolitan Police, which threatened them with huge fines if they organised a demonstration during lockdown in memory of murdered Sarah Everard.

A spontaneous vigil went ahead anyway last March and the police were criticised for the way they handcuffed women and made arrests.
