Lucy Letby given whole-life jail term after murdering seven babies

The cruelty and calculation of her crimes were “truly horrific”, the judge at Manchester Crown Court declared today as he sentenced Lucy Letby to a whole-life term in jail for murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others.

Letby had refused to come to court to hear families of her victims describe the impact of her crimes: one man broke down in tears as he said the loss of his two children had destroyed him as a man and as a father.
