Life-extending cystic fibrosis drug to be made available on NHS

A life-extending drug for people with cystic fibrosis will become available on NHS England after a deal with the pharma company which makes it. Orkambi improves lung function and reduce breathing difficulties and can be taken by children as young as two. It originally came at a cost of £100,000 a year, but a confidential deal has been reached, understood to be a much lower price. But the NHS remains under pressure to fund other new therapies.
